Created a small virtual tour for fun at Smith Street Taps in Singapore last night. Singapore is notorious for expensive beers and a lack of beer variety. I have absolutely no complaints about Tiger which is the main beer you find in Singapore but variety is the spice of life; especially when it comes to beer. I can’t remember where I saw it first but Smith Street Taps became a place I needed to go. The first thing that’s a bit strange is that it’s in a hawker centre in Chinatown. To be honest, I prefer beers in a hawker centre to beers in a bar anyway. This place is said to be a “hidden gem” in the beer scene in Singapore and that’s a fact. They have a delicious range of beers on tap and the “Modern Times Black House Stout” was wonderful. The owners are also VERY friendly and knowledgable so you see them chatting with patrons for several minutes when they come up to order another beer. If you are looking for something other than a Tiger++ in Chinatown then head down to the Chinatown Complex and have a pint or two at Smith Street Taps!
